Portia Pendleton (she/her) is a licensed clinical social worker with certification in the state of Connecticut, practicing in Old Saybrook, CT. With specialized training in eating disorders, adolescent mental health and obsessive compulsive disorders, Portia’s areas of focus include athletes, school and work performance related issues and life transitions. 

Portia attended the University of Connecticut, double majoring in Psychology and Human Development and Family Studies. Portia was a member of Psi Chi, an International Psychology Honor Society reserved for students with strong academic achievement with interests in research. Portia was a research assistant to Dr. Kimberli Treadwell, PhD whose areas of study include childhood anxiety, worry and generalized anxiety disorder. Portia also received the Homer Babbidge Award while attending UCONN for academic excellence. Portia completed her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Saint Joseph.

Portia maintains strong ties to community based work while pursuing a clinical focus such as working part time as a Director of Positive Youth Development for a local youth service bureau during COVID-19’s initial outbreak. Portia has written for Project Heal, a national eating disorder foundation; Walden Behavioral Care’s blog, The E List and Wondermind. Portia has been a part of panel’s for National Eating Disorder Awareness Week at UCONN and volunteered in many high schools at wellness days and guest speaking in AP psychology classes. 

When not working, Portia enjoys spending time with her pets and family in the great outdoors as well as shopping and consuming all sorts of TV shows and movies.
