Episode 74 - “Moana”

Welcome back to Analyze Scripts, where a psychiatrist and a therapist analyze what Hollywood gets right and wrong about mental health. Today, we are analyzing the hit 2016 Disney movie “Moana” starring Auli'i Cravalho and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. We LOVE this movie!! In this episode, we break down why we think Moana is one of the best disney princesses ever and we use her character’s portrayal of a healthy, secure attachment style. We question whether Maui’s action are related to narcissism or early childhood abandonment, and discuss how beautifully the ending explores the ability to accept both good and bad aspects of ourselves. We can’t wait for the sequel! We hope you enjoy!
